Crowd out Candida in three steps.
If you’ve been battling Candida overgrowth, isn’t it time you feel good again?  

Over the last few weeks, we have talked about Candida overgrowth and how this yeast can harm the microbiome and lead to many serious health issues.

We’ve talked about what candidiasis is, what causes Candida Albicans to multiply and how to determine if you have it. Next week, we will look at some of the more serious health issues brought about by Candida overgrowth. But before we do that, let’s look at what you can do to get rid of it and bring your gut back in balance. If you suspect that you suffer from Candida overgrowth, you want to get busy getting this aggressive yeast under control.

Did you review the list of symptoms last week? Did you perform the “spit test”? If after doing these two self tests you think you may have Candida overgrowth, you’ll want to take immediate steps to clean up your gut. So, if you have determined that you have this condition, what can you do?

There are basically three steps you need to take to successfully treat Candida.

  1. Stop the yeast from growing.
  2. Re-populate the gut with friendly bacteria
  3. Heal the gut so that Candida is no longer entering your bloodstream.1*

Step one: Stop the yeast overgrowth. The best way to do this is to cut off the Candida’s food supply. Candida loves sugar, carbohydrates, and anything else that turns to sugar in the system. Additionally, eliminate inflammatory foods to include gluten, dairy, soy and corn…essentially those foods that lead to food sensitivities. Also, cut out any gastric irritants such as alcohol, drugs and caffeine.(1,2,3)*

Limit your diet to fresh vegetables and proteins. A vegetable juice detox is a great way to kick start your regimen. After a week or so, you can add, but limit yourself to one cup of complex carbohydrates daily (beans, grains, bread, fruit, pasta and potatoes). If you stick to this strict diet, you will keep the Candida from multiplying and eventually, without its food source, it will die. To keep it from returning, you’ll to need maintain this healthier lifestyle.(1,2)*

Step Two: Repopulate the microbiome with friendly bacteria. The second important part of getting rid of Candida is to increase the friendly bacteria population in the gut.
