Love is….a healthy mind and body.
Loving yourself can be the best Valentine gift you give to those in your life.

Love thyself! It is so important. Our health, and the health of those we love, stands out among life’s most treasured gifts. We know the phrase, “You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone”, and this rings especially true when it comes to our health… be it physical or mental. When we are young, and have not a care in the world, we don’t even think about what it means to be healthy. We take it for granted because for most, it is always there. But as we get older, we realize the importance of good health. All it takes is a serious or chronic illness to remind us how important our health is to not only us, but to those who love us.

While on a plane, the flight attendants remind us, that in case of emergency, to put on your own oxygen mask first before assisting the person next to you. That is because if you can’t breathe, you are not going to be able to help anyone else. If we are sick, it is very difficult to take care of or put much effort into our relationships with others. We don’t feel like doing much, and so much of our lives revolve around our illness. If we are depressed or stressed out, we are focused on that and not on others. Our kids feel it, our partner feels it, those around us sense it. When we are physically sick, others can see it in our energy levels and in the pain on our faces. Life is not as pleasurable, and in worst case scenarios, we become a burden to others.

That is why on this Valentine’s Day, I want to encourage you to focus on someone very special in your life…the most important person. And that is YOU. It is so important to love yourself enough to eat right, devote time to exercise, make regular visits to the appropriate health care provider for preventative health, and if we are not feeling well, go seek the counsel or advice of the proper health care practitioner. Don’t wait. If you don’t take care of yourself, it could very well result in us being unable to share in the love of our friends and family in the way we would like.

At the core of your health is the gut. Caring for this miraculous microbiome teeming with bacteria, brings about a systemic response throughout your body. Eating the right foods that feed the good bacteria will ensure a healthy microbiome which results in a healthy immune system. Remember 90% of our serotonin, the “feel good” hormone, is produced in the digestive tract, so a healthy gut also leads to good mental health.1*

Loving yourself means taking the time to prepare homemade meals. Mediate and relax. Exercise. Avoid sugars and processed foods, eat organic whenever possible and drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated and help with proper elimination of toxins. Choose a powerful probiotic such as BODY BIOTICSâ„¢ BIO IDENTICAL SBO PROBIOTICS CONSORTIAâ„¢ to ensure you are feeding your gut the healthy bacteria it needs and may not be getting through your normal diet.*

Loving yourself also means forgiving yourself. Accepting yourself for who you are, not who someone else thinks you should be. Strive to be your best, but when you fall short, don’t get down on yourself. Love is a healthy mind and body! So treat yourself this Valentine’s Day with love and care and respect. Those around you will love you all the more for taking care of yourself.

Happy Valentine’s Day,

Kelli
