Ring in the New Year with some promises to yourself.
The start of a new year is the perfect time to make a few personal changes.

Goodbye 2016, hello 2017. I hope this last year has been a good one for you . I also hope that 2017 is even better! With the ringing in of the New Year, it’s time to get busy with some new commitments, choices and ideas for positive change in our lives. Even if your life is right where you want it to be, there is always room for a little improvement….even if it is just detoxing from the holidays.

There is a whimsical quote swirling around on social media which reads, “…It just isn’t Christmas unless you push your body to the brink of alcoholism and diabetes…” Though this quote is meant to be funny, if taken literally, is quite dangerous! For so many, overindulgence is a common behavior over the holidays. Hopefully, we are all mindful of moderation and what that means, but with holiday parties, lots of time spent with friends and family and New Year’s Eve following so close after Christmas, it is pretty easy to turn the holidays into one big food and drink overindulgence. Being tempted and giving in to our temptations is especially easy, as we think…”It’s the holidays! I’ll get back on track after the New Year. ”1*

The good news is that the New Year is upon us and with it comes promise of change, a fresh start and a new chapter in each of our lives. Just the symbolism of a new year is often enough to kick start people’s desire to change bad habits and modify behavior. But the problem is that once the year gets going, people get off course, get lazy or just forgetful…so here are a few tips to keep those New Year’s resolutions going.

Write it down!

Take a quiet moment and write down what you really want to change or accomplish in your life. By writing it down, you are more likely to stick to your resolutions. Establish a specific notebook as your ‘resolution journal’ and keep it close. Refer to it each morning or evening, and even keep notes and track your progress. This is a great way to put your goals on track for success!

Take it one month at a time.

Goals are more manageable when you take them in small increments. Whether it is one day at a time, one week at a time or one month at a time, you’ll find these smaller time frames easier to accomplish than a whole year at a time.

Be specific.

Instead of creating a resolution such as, “I want to get healthy,” be more specific and describe how you want to accomplish this. For example, state goals such as “exercise 30 minutes per day” or “stop eating sugar” or “become a vegan”.

Reward yourself!

At the end of each week or month when you have accomplished your goal, reward yourself with something. Maybe it’s a massage, a new item of clothing or dinner out. Life is to be celebrated and if it’s all work and no play, you may want to give up on your goals.

Visualize success

Take a few minutes each day to imagine yourself accomplishing your goals. When we see ourselves as successful, we become successful. If we continually imagine ourselves failing, we will. Keep your self-talk positive and uplifting!

At Body Biotics, we truly appreciate you sharing your journey to greater health with us.  In the New Year, we will continue to provide you with the same commitment to excellence in our products and customer service to help you in that journey…that is one of our resolutions that we keep at the top of our list each year.
